This country has only been open to tourist in the past decade and they welcome you with friendly arms. There is so much to see and do that your weekends will be packed. Myanmar was formerly known as Burma.
You can buy a beer from a road side cafe for $0.60 or get a vodka and coke for $.70 yes it’s a very cheap place to drink! And the locals love to drink too. There are some western chains out there like KFC etc, to get your western fix.
TEFL teachers tips and advice;
There are no work permits required in Myanmar for you plus you don’t need a degree to work here, like you do in most Asian countries. The pay is higher than Thailand and cost of living is cheaper.
You do need to do visas runs though since you can get a 10 week work visa or 70 day visa but you do need to leave the country each time you renew your visa this should be paid by your company or school that you work for. Work is mainly in the major towns and cities.
